Great Britain will enjoy their best-ever Winter Olympics if last year's global results are reflected in Vancouver next month.
The British Olympic Association published its annual performance statistics for Olympic disciplines on Thursday and it showed that in winter events, Team GB claimed four medals at world level.
The stats collate results from World Championships and other relevant world-level competitions to create relative Olympic medal tables.
Team GB's winter athletes won four medals - two gold and two silver - at World Championships in 2009. Gold medals were claimed by the women's two-man bobsleigh team, led by Nicola Minichiello, and the men's curlers, while the skeleton squad added two silvers at their World Championships.
Were they to repeat that haul in Vancouver, the effort would be Britain's best yet at a Winter Olympic Games - their previous best being one gold, one silver and one bronze back in 1936.
Thanks to their four top-three results, Great Britain are ranked 14th in the medal table for 2009. Norway finished top.
BOA chief executive Andy Hunt said the results were encouraging with the Winter Games just a few weeks away.
"With the countdown to Vancouver 2010 nearing its climax, it is encouraging to see the potential that exists within British winter sport," he said.
